Connect

SAP Analytics Cloud

Updated 27 Oct 20265 min read

SAP Analytics Cloud is an optional, specialised connection for SAC implementors; Relay doesn't need it. For any other system, see Connect any system with an API.

Important: The SAP Analytics Cloud tool is in testing. It's built and tested against a simulated tenant, and is being validated on SAC trial tenants now. Use it with a trial or development tenant and demo data until it's confirmed.

What Relay can do

Ten starter skills, all named "SAC: ...", cover common analytics work. You can change them like any other skill. Relay can:

  • diagnose failed imports from the job, the rejected rows and the audit log;
  • check advanced-formula scripts (for example that every dimension is scoped and nothing writes to Actual);
  • run multi actions and data imports after approval;
  • export and import content packages between development, QA and trial tenants;
  • run a weekly Monday check that stays quiet unless something failed.

Safety rules enforced in code

Whatever a skill or the AI says, Relay:

  • never changes a production tenant (it drafts the change for a person instead);
  • never writes to Actual;
  • needs an approval that names the model, version and periods before writing to a public version;
  • never touches users, teams or roles;
  • saves a snapshot before every change, reads SAC back afterwards to check the totals, and offers Undo.

Connect a tenant

You need an SAC administrator to create an OAuth client for Relay.

  1. In SAC, open System > Administration > App Integration > OAuth Clients and add a client named Relay.
  2. Choose API Access and the Client Credentials grant.
  3. Allow the data import, data export, multi action, content network and activities services. Never allow user, team, role or SCIM access.
  4. Copy the client ID, the secret and the token URL.
  5. In Relay, open Connections > + Add a connection > SAP Analytics Cloud (under Specialised). Add one connection per tenant:
    • Name: short, for example dev. Skills and Relay use it to name the tenant.
    • Tenant: trial, development, test (QA) or production. Production is always read-only.
    • SAC address, token address, OAuth client ID and OAuth client secret.
  6. Press Save and test. The SAC starter skills are added to Skills the first time you add an SAC connection.

SAP's own documentation: SAP Analytics Cloud help. Exact service names vary between SAC releases, so check them in your tenant.
